Location

Please notice, Berlin has no city centre in the classic way. The old centre has been completely destroyed in World War II. After 1945 two new centres around the "Alexanderplatz" in the East and "Wittenberg Platz" in the West established. After the reunification in 1989 a new centre developed north of the district "Mitte" and "Prenzlauer Berg".

The various spots are quite spread all over the inner city. Depending where you want to go, you always have to use public transportation. Sightseeing is mainly in the district of "Mitte". The main museums are in "Mitte". Nightlife in the districts of "Kreuzberg", "Friedrichshain" and "Prenzlauer Berg". Shopping you will find in "Mitte" as well as in "Prenzlauer Berg", "Charlottenburg" and "Wilmersdorf". Well known flea markets are in "Prenzlauer Berg", "Mitte" and "Tiergarten". Second hand shopping is good in "Friedrichshain", "Kreuzberg" and "Prenzlauer Berg". We have a very good connection to all these places by public transportation. Best is to use the city trains (S–Bahn) in Berlin.

Bus stops are in front of the building, U– and S–Bahn connections are a few minutes away and it´s easy to get to almost all districts of Berlin.

You can take the S–Bahn to the main sight seeing spots, line 1 or 25, which is in 5min walking distance (or 2 bus stops) and runs every 5min. during the daytime. To the "Brandenburger Tor" or the famous street "Unter den Linden" it takes only 14 min.

From the main railway station it takes about 7min by Taxi, about 25min by public bus. From Airport Tegel it takes about 30 min by bus, from Airport Schonefeld about 60 min by S–Bahn. By Taxi it costs about 15 EURO from Tegel, about 35 EURO from Airport Schonefeld.

There are numerous retail outlets near by: a supermarket, bakery, drugstore (chemist), bank, pharmacy, dry–cleaner, bistro, restaurants, and cocktail–bar. About 15min away there´s a large shopping centre (Gesundbrunnen). There you´ll also find a swimming pool (Sommerbad Humboldthain) and a large park for jogging or walking.
